Sulfadicramide is a sulfonamide antibacterial agent derived from sulfanilamide, used historically in certain countries for treatment of bacterial infections. As a sulfonamide, it inhibits bacterial dihydropteroate synthase, blocking folic acid synthesis in susceptible bacteria. It has limited current clinical use and has been largely supplanted by more effective antibacterial agents.
