Teriparatide
This medication is a synthetic form of parathyroid hormone used to treat severe osteoporosis in patients at high risk of fractures, including postmenopausal women and men with osteoporosis. Unlike most osteoporosis drugs that slow bone loss, teriparatide actively stimulates the formation of new bone tissue. It is given as a daily injection under the skin for up to two years.
