Zafirlukast
This leukotriene receptor antagonist is taken as a daily oral tablet to prevent asthma symptoms and reduce the need for rescue inhalers. It works by blocking leukotrienes, inflammatory chemicals that cause airway narrowing, mucus production, and swelling in asthma. It is not for immediate relief of an asthma attack and should be continued even when symptoms are absent.
