Zonisamide
This anticonvulsant medication is used as an add-on treatment for partial seizures in adults with epilepsy and is also used off-label as an adjunct in Parkinson's disease. It works through multiple mechanisms including blocking sodium and calcium channels in the brain to reduce abnormal electrical activity. It can cause kidney stones, so adequate hydration is important, and it should be avoided in patients with sulfonamide allergies.
