Daunorubicin
An anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, blocking DNA replication and causing cancer cell death; used primarily for acute myeloid and acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Like other anthracyclines, cumulative cardiotoxicity is a major dose-limiting concern.
