mTOR Inhibitor

Immunopharmacology

A drug that inhibits the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR), a serine/threonine kinase that integrates growth factor and nutrient signaling to regulate cell growth, proliferation, and survival. mTOR inhibitors suppress T and B lymphocyte activation and have antiproliferative effects on tumor cells and vascular smooth muscle. They are used in transplant immunosuppression and oncology.

Примеры

  • Sirolimus (rapamycin) — transplant rejection prophylaxis, drug-eluting stents
  • Everolimus — renal cell carcinoma, breast cancer, tuberous sclerosis
  • Temsirolimus — IV mTOR inhibitor for advanced renal cell carcinoma
