Piperazine
Piperazine is an anthelmintic agent that acts by causing hyperpolarization of Ascaris and Enterobius worm muscle membranes through GABA-mimetic activity, producing flaccid paralysis of the parasite which is then expelled by normal intestinal peristalsis. It has been used for the treatment of roundworm (ascariasis) and pinworm (enterobiasis) infections, and certain piperazine derivatives have demonstrated anticancer activity in preclinical studies.
