Pyrithione
Pyrithione is a metal chelating compound with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, most commonly formulated as zinc pyrithione, that disrupts membrane transport systems in fungi and bacteria through formation of inhibitory metal complexes with pyruvate dehydrogenase and other enzymes. It is used as an antifungal and antibacterial agent in dandruff shampoos, antifouling coatings, and has been investigated for various skin conditions.
