Practolol
Practolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker that reduces heart rate, myocardial contractility, and blood pressure by competitively blocking catecholamine binding at cardiac beta-1 receptors. It was withdrawn from systemic use due to an oculomucocutaneous syndrome causing serious ocular, skin, and peritoneal fibrosis complications, though it retains use in some countries as an intravenous agent for intraoperative arrhythmia management.
