Sulfamethoxypyridazine
Sulfamethoxypyridazine is a long-acting sulfonamide antibiotic with a plasma half-life allowing once-daily or less frequent dosing, used historically for urinary tract infections, dermatitis herpetiformis, and Pneumocystis pneumonia prophylaxis. Its extended half-life is attributed to high plasma protein binding and slow renal tubular secretion. Like other sulfonamides, it inhibits bacterial dihydropteroate synthase.
