Renal Clearance (CLr)

CLr
Pharmacokinetics

The volume of plasma from which a drug is completely removed by the kidneys per unit time. Renal clearance encompasses glomerular filtration, active tubular secretion, and passive tubular reabsorption. It is a major determinant of dosing adjustments in patients with impaired kidney function.

Örnekler

  • Metformin: primarily renally cleared, requires dose reduction in CKD
  • Digoxin: 60-80% renal elimination, monitor in renal impairment
  • Cockcroft-Gault equation used to estimate creatinine clearance for dose adjustment
