Hydrogen Peroxide
A chemical compound with multiple medical uses including as a topical antiseptic for cleaning wounds and preventing infection, as an oral rinse for gingivitis, and in investigational applications in cancer biology research. In dilute concentrations, it releases oxygen on contact with tissue, mechanically disrupting and oxidizing bacterial cell components. High concentrations are dangerous and can cause tissue damage.
