Imiglucerase
This enzyme replacement therapy is used to treat Gaucher's disease, a genetic disorder in which a deficiency of the enzyme glucocerebrosidase causes a fatty substance to accumulate in organs including the liver, spleen, and bone marrow. Regular intravenous infusions of this recombinant enzyme help reduce organ enlargement, improve blood counts, and decrease bone complications. It has significantly improved the prognosis for patients with this condition.
