This carbapenem antibiotic is used to treat serious and resistant bacterial infections by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is always administered in combination with cilastatin, which prevents its breakdown in the kidneys and reduces kidney toxicity. It is effective against a broad range of gram-positive, gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria.

Cơ chế tác dụng

Selectively blocks angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptors, preventing the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II. This results in vasodilation, reduced sodium retention, and decreased blood pressure.
