Isoniazid
This first-line antibiotic is used to treat and prevent tuberculosis (TB) by inhibiting mycolic acid synthesis, a key component of the mycobacterial cell wall. It is one of the most important TB drugs and is used in combination with other agents to prevent the development of resistance. Long-term use requires supplementation with vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) to prevent peripheral neuropathy.
