Pyrvinium is a cyanine dye antiparasitic agent that inhibits the NADH-fumarate reductase mitochondrial electron transport chain of helminths, disrupting their glucose uptake and aerobic metabolism, causing paralysis and death of the parasite. It is used for the treatment of pinworm (enterobiasis) infections, and more recently has been investigated as an antineoplastic agent targeting the Wnt signaling pathway in cancer, including pancreatic cancer.
