Sodium Tetradecyl Sulfate
Sodium tetradecyl sulfate is a detergent-class sclerosing agent used for the treatment of varicose veins and hemorrhoids by injecting directly into the vessel lumen, causing endothelial damage, thrombosis, and subsequent fibrosis to obliterate the vein. By disrupting the endothelial cell lipid bilayer, it triggers an inflammatory response leading to sclerosis and permanent closure of the target vessel. It is used in sclerotherapy as an alternative to surgical vein stripping.
