Tasimelteon is a selective melatonin receptor agonist (MT1 and MT2) approved for the treatment of non-24-hour sleep-wake disorder, a circadian rhythm disorder particularly prevalent in totally blind individuals without light perception. It synchronizes the circadian clock by mimicking the endogenous action of melatonin on suprachiasmatic nucleus receptors.
