Cyclooxygenase (COX)

COX
Targets & Receptors

An enzyme (COX-1 constitutive, COX-2 inducible) that catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2, the precursor of prostaglandins and thromboxanes. COX-1 maintains gastric mucosal integrity and platelet function, while COX-2 mediates inflammation and pain. Selective COX-2 inhibition reduces GI toxicity but may increase cardiovascular risk.

示例

  • Aspirin — irreversible COX-1/COX-2 inhibitor (antiplatelet, analgesic)
  • Celecoxib — selective COX-2 inhibitor (arthritis)
  • Ibuprofen — nonselective COX inhibitor (pain, inflammation)
