Immunosuppressant

Immunopharmacology

A drug that suppresses or reduces the activity of the immune system, used primarily to prevent organ transplant rejection and to treat autoimmune diseases. Immunosuppressants act through diverse mechanisms including T-cell inhibition, cytokine blockade, and lymphocyte depletion. Multi-drug regimens are standard to minimize toxicity of individual agents.

示例

  • Cyclosporine — calcineurin inhibitor (transplant rejection)
  • Mycophenolate mofetil — IMPDH inhibitor (transplant, lupus nephritis)
  • Azathioprine — purine antimetabolite (autoimmune diseases)
