Cytokine Storm (CRS)
CRSA life-threatening systemic inflammatory response characterized by the uncontrolled release of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, TNF-alpha, IFN-gamma) leading to multi-organ dysfunction. It can be triggered by infections (e.g., COVID-19), immunotherapies (CAR-T, checkpoint inhibitors), or certain drugs. Management includes cytokine-targeted therapies and supportive care.
Exemplos
- Tocilizumab — IL-6 receptor blocker used to treat CAR-T-induced CRS
- COVID-19-associated cytokine storm treated with dexamethasone + tocilizumab
- TGN1412 anti-CD28 superagonist trial (2006) caused severe cytokine storm
