Ligand-Gated Ion Channel (LGIC)

LGIC
Targets & Receptors

Ion channels that open or close in response to binding of a specific chemical ligand such as a neurotransmitter. Also called ionotropic receptors, they mediate fast synaptic transmission on the millisecond timescale. Major families include nicotinic acetylcholine, GABA-A, glycine, and glutamate receptors.

ตัวอย่าง

  • GABA-A receptor potentiated by benzodiazepines (anxiety)
  • Nicotinic receptor activated by varenicline (smoking cessation)
  • NMDA receptor blocked by ketamine (anesthesia/depression)
