Dobutamine
A synthetic catecholamine used intravenously to treat acute heart failure and cardiogenic shock by stimulating beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart, increasing the strength of cardiac contractions and improving cardiac output. It is also used in pharmacological cardiac stress testing (dobutamine stress echocardiography). It can cause increased heart rate and must be used with continuous cardiac monitoring.
