Hetacillin
A penicillin-class antibiotic that is a prodrug of ampicillin, rapidly converted to ampicillin in the body after absorption to exert its antibacterial effects. It was designed to improve oral bioavailability compared to early ampicillin formulations. Its spectrum of activity and uses are equivalent to those of ampicillin.
