ENT1 (ENT1)
ENT1Equilibrative Nucleoside Transporter 1 (gene: SLC29A1), a bidirectional, sodium-independent facilitative transporter for purine and pyrimidine nucleosides. Ubiquitously expressed with high levels in erythrocytes, liver, and tumor cells. Critical for cellular uptake of nucleoside analog anticancer and antiviral drugs. ENT1 deficiency in tumors is a known resistance mechanism for gemcitabine therapy in pancreatic cancer.
