Phosphodiesterase (PDE)

PDE
Targets & Receptors

A family of enzymes (PDE1–PDE11) that hydrolyze cyclic nucleotides cAMP and cGMP, thereby terminating their second messenger signaling. PDE inhibitors increase intracellular cyclic nucleotide levels to produce vasodilation, bronchodilation, anti-inflammatory, or inotropic effects depending on the isoform targeted.

Exemplos

  • Sildenafil — PDE5 inhibitor (erectile dysfunction, pulmonary hypertension)
  • Roflumilast — PDE4 inhibitor (COPD)
  • Milrinone — PDE3 inhibitor (acute heart failure)
